The Pro Kit includes everything you need to get a clear picture of your indoor air- laboratory samplers for radon, VOCs, formaldehyde and mold and monitoring devices to monitor PM2.5, CO, CO2 and humidity. The Pro Plus Kit includes multiple sampling devices for larger homes (over 2,500 square feet).
The Essential Kit includes the laboratory samplers only (no monitors) and is best if you already own an air quality monitor. The Essential Plus Kit includes multiple sampling devices for larger homes (over 2,500 square feet).
Laboratory samples will be collected and shipped to the lab. The monitors are yours to keep for continuous air monitoring.
All our kits include a detailed report comparing your results to applicable regulatory guidance. Your report will also include recommended actions developed by indoor air quality professionals for you to implement and improve your indoor air quality.

Your 8air test results provide a detailed view of your home’s indoor air quality. Laboratory analysis measures pollutants such as VOCs, mold, radon, and formaldehyde, while monitoring devices track PM2.5, CO, CO₂, and humidity levels.
The results report compares your measurements to applicable regulatory guidance and standards, helping you understand which areas of your home may need attention.
In addition to the data, 8air provides clear, actionable recommendations developed by indoor air quality professionals. These steps guide you on how to improve your home’s air quality and create a healthier environment for you and your family.

Our kits include a mold swab direct exam. This is a quick and relatively inexpensive method to check for mold.
Other methods for mold sampling include Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) and spore trap sampling.
ERMI tests (which collect dust via a vacuum or dust cloth) are not recommended by the USEPA except for use as a research tool. These types of dust test methods can be highly variable and inaccurate.
Spore trap sampling is much more costly and requires a pump. It is highly recommended a professional perform this type of testing. If your mold results indicate mold may be present, we may recommended contacting a local professional to perform this type of testing.

Common VOC monitors on the market measure total VOCs (TVOCs) and can be inaccurate. Different compounds have different sources. A TVOC monitoring device does not provide insight as to which individual compounds are present and where they may be coming from. Our kits include a VOC passive sampling badge which provides concentrations of 20 individual VOCs with much lower detection limits than a monitor can provide. Our passive samplers are simple to use and provide a much more detailed look at VOCs in your home than a monitor can.
-
Most standard home CO detectors are designed to alarm at high levels (typically 30–70 ppm) and do not detect lower concentrations. The low-level CO monitor included in 8air kits measures CO starting at 9 ppm, which aligns with USEPA guidance. While you may already have a CO detector installed in your home, our monitor provides added protection by detecting lower levels and is designed to be portable for use in different areas which is beneficial in identifying sources of CO in your home.

Your report will include detailed recommendations and next steps to improve indoor air quality. Some recommendations may include ventilation, filtration, or removing specific pollutants. Some fixes are easy to implement and low-cost while others may require a professional.
